I’m Ashley Shenton. An experienced web developer specialising in Laravel.

I live in Stoke-on-Trent with my beautiful wife and two amazing children.

I got into programming later than I would have liked. It was always something I had a passion for, but I got a little too comfortable earning a wage that I didn’t pursue it until much later on.

Ever since starting in web development, I have taken every opportunity that has come my way and have thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. I love trying out new libraries, frameworks, and tooling, most of which greatly improve the developer experience. I have progressed significantly in my roles over the years and now have considerable knowledge across all aspects of web development.

I have extensive experience with PHP and Laravel as a backend framework, following the test-driven development approach. I am very familiar with MySQL and query optimisation, which enables me to build efficient applications when using the Eloquent ORM. Most of my frontend experience is using the Vue framework, although I have also worked on React applications that utilise TypeScript.

In addition, I have picked up considerable server infrastructure knowledge. I know my way around a server and have supported my colleagues to debug issues and improve performance. More recently, I have worked heavily with AWS and the many services it offers, achieving their Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.

Today, I am a competent, hardworking, and reliable developer who has delivered on many client projects.
